Japanese Maples

Its hard to think of another tree as beautiful and spiritual as the delicate Japanese Maple — often referred to as the "Aristocrat of Trees".

Whether a tall elegant variety or a
low-to-the-ground bushy type- a full size plant or a carefully cultivated bonsai, the Japanese Maple has a grace and personality that has made it near and dear to gardeners, amateurs and spectators around the world.

Here is a selection of our best selling varieties


Ara Kawa - "Cork Bark Maple".
Widely used for bonsai. Hardy and beautiful. Spring colour is light green, to orange/red autumn colours. H to 16' after 10 years.

  


Atropurpureum.
Similar to Bloodgood, but more economical. Dark burgundy leaves to bright red in fall. Very hardy and popular. H to 10' after 10 years.


Butterfly
Striking variegated leaves. Mixtures of cream, pink and green leaves. Autumn colour is orange. Bush/tree.
H 8' W 4'

Crimson Queen
One of the finest dissectums. Unsurpassed colour. Mound forming.
H 5' W 4'.
  

Inaba Shidare.
One of the best laceleaf cultivars. Cascading leaves. Spring to fall colours, dark burgundy to bright pink, then fiery red. H 3' W 7'

 

Kiyohime
Fantastic small tree that will grow wider than tall. Spring colours yellow with orange tips. Summer green to orange in autumn. H 3' W 5'


Orange Dream
Bright orange spring colours, summer is lime with orange margins to fall, bright yellow/gold. H 8-10' W 5'

  

Red Dragon
Will stay redder during summer than most varieties. Mounding shape, slow growing. Fall colour is dramatic crimson red. Our most popular cultivar.

  

Red Sentinel
Narrow, red, upright and compact
small tree. Autumn colour is brilliant crimson. H 9' W3' in 10 years.

 

 

 

Sharp's Pygmy - Dwarf
This cultivar has small unique leaves. Summer colours range from bronze green to burgundy. Beautiful gold to scarlet in fall. H 3' to 4'
  


Seiryu
The only upright dissectum. Fast growing small tree. Bright green with pink edged leaves in spring, medium green summer. Autumn colours yellow/gold, then burgundy. H 18' W 15
